Every Match Begins
with a Story

Every day, families wait for a call that could change everything. One match, one donor, one chance to keep hope alive. You might be that chance — you just haven’t been asked yet.

The Heart of Our Mission

Around the world, thousands of patients, including children, teens, and adults, wait for stem cell transplants to treat blood cancers and rare genetic conditions. For many, a matched donor is their only cure. But matches are rare.

And the registry still doesn’t reflect the full diversity of the country.

HopeLink started with young Americans who refused to accept that families should wait helplessly.

Students, first-generation immigrants, community organizers, and healthcare advocates are people who believe that a life shouldn’t depend on a lack of awareness.

We step into campuses, community centers, workplaces, churches, cultural events (basically anywhere people gather) and make this process human, simple, and approachable.

What Donating Actually Looks Like

A lot of people around the world want to help. Most just think it’s complicated or painful. So here’s the real picture:

Most donations look similar to giving platelets. Some are done through the bloodstream. Both are safe, regulated, and deeply meaningful.

It’s not heroic.

Why America Needs More Donors

Finding a donor is not about luck, it’s about numbers. And the numbers don’t add up yet.

  • Patients of color face the lowest match rates in the U.S.
  • Young donors have the best outcomes, but don’t register as often.
  • Many families wait months, sometimes years, as the registry remains too small — and some never find a match at all.

HopeLink is working to change that, one campus and one community at a time. Because someone’s best chance might live in your zipcode, go to your college, or stand behind you in line at the grocery store.

How Hope Becomes Action

How Hope Becomes Action

HopeLink isn’t just about awareness, it’s about follow-through.

We:

  • Run high-energy, youth-led drives across colleges and high schools
  • Work with local organizations, companies, hospitals, and cultural communities
  • Support families navigating transplant timelines
  • Break down myths and misinformation with compassion
  • Celebrate the courage of first-time donors

This is a movement built on shared responsibility—not fear, pressure, or guilt. Just a belief that, in America, communities show up for each other.

Stories From Across the World

The best way to understand impact is to hear directly from the people living it.

I didn’t expect it to feel so emotional. From the first call to donation day, everything was explained and I felt supported the whole way. The process was easier than I imagined, and being told I may have saved someone’s life was incredibly humbling. I’d do it again in a heartbeat.

When I got the news, I was stunned. I knew donating was an incredibly brave act, but I never could have imagined my one decision could change two lives. To know I could give hope to a family struggling with sickness felt like a miracle in itself, and I’m so happy to have played a part in making their daughters whole again.

Saving a life doesn’t always look dramatic.

Sometimes it starts with a cotton swab,

a signature, and a willingness to show up for someone you’ll never meet, yet.
